What is VoIP?

VoIP stands for "Voice Over Internet Protocol," and is a telephone line where your voice is sent digitally, using your Internet connection, instead of using a physical phone line.

What is TeslaVoice?

TeslaVoice is a cloud hosted VoIP and PBX telephony package designed for small businesses. With TeslaVoice you can create telephone lines for all of your staff and allocate real phone numbers to each of them, as well as configure a wide range of PBX features such as IVR menus, call queues, call recording, voicemail and conferencing, all from our highly intuitive online control panel 24/7.

What do I need to sign up to TeslaVoice?

We are currently providing TeslaVoice to UK based businesses and individuals only.

To sign up you will need the following:

Required UK mobile number (so we can text you a verification code)

Required Visa/Mastercard (to pay the subscription fee each month)

Sign up takes less than 5 minutes and your account will be set up immediately.

What hardware do I need?

Because TeslaVoice is a cloud hosted service, you don’t need to buy any PBX hardware or systems.

All you will need to buy is a VoIP phone for each person using the service, or you can buy an adaptor that turns any standard phone in to a VoIP phone. You may also use software with a headset if you wish.

Remember that our service uses a technology called SIP and will work with any phone that supports SIP.

I have used VoIP before and the call quality was terrible, why would TeslaVoice be different?

You have probably been using a free or oversold service that isn’t actually a true VoIP service. The problem with these services is that they are used by millions of people at the same time, mostly people who are not paying to use the service. It’s simply not possible to provide a good level of service to that many people at all times. This often results in jittery calls with delays.

We provide true VoIP using an industry standard technology called SIP (Session Initiated Protocol). And because we charge for our services, we are able to ensure that we have enough capacity.

Many of our customers are pleasantly surprised when they first make a call using TeslaVoice as they are unable to distinguish the difference in call quality between their TeslaVoice line and a BT phone line. In fact many report even better sound quality, which is not surprising considering our service is fully digital whereas a BT phone call has to travel over a copper wire, reducing call quality.

Note: The service will only be as good as your Internet connection. VoIP doesn’t require a fast connection (even 1Mbps is more than enough) but it does require a relatively stable connection.

Can I bring my telephone number with me?

Yes – of course. And you can take your numbers with you should you decide to leave our service.

Are there any contract commitments?

No – you can cancel at any time. We will be sorry to see you leave, but we won’t try to convince you to stay and we wont ask you to give us any notice. We will carry out your cancellation instruction without delay.

What kind of customer service can I expect?

We are available between the hours of 9-5 Monday to Friday by phone and e-mail.

Can I call 999 using your service?

Yes. We support 999 calls and our systems are integrated with the emergency services. Your name and address will appear on the operator's screen when the call connects.

Note: We do recommend that you use a mobile to dial 999 in the event of an emergency in case there is a power failure or Internet disruption during the emergency call.

How reliable is the service?

Our VoIP services are extremely reliable. We have designed our systems to be fault tolerant with an aim to achieve 99.99% uptime. But as with any service, sometimes things do go wrong and when they do, we will do everything in our power to get you back up and running as soon as possible.

What happens when we grow beyond 5 people?
